Altered Recipe Box & A Review!

Recently I spotted a super cute Flair project by Bethany Kartchner on ScrapFriends! Bethany posted a blog entry reviewing our new Keep On Cooking collection and I thought the project she created was fabulous!

She chose to alter an old dingy recipe box and the finished results were outstanding!

Exciting News To Come!

I just wanted to make a short post about some very exciting things that are happening at Flair! 

* We will be releasing 2 new fabulous embellishments at the July 2008 CHA in Chicago! I can't reveal what they are just yet, but trust me they Rock!!

* We are going to start having a Flair Guest Designer each month, and we just asked Tammy Malone to be our first guest of honor! I will be posting an interview with Tammy, along with projects she has created with our Flair products later in July!

* We just released the gorgeous Seaside Collection, and I am happy to announce that we have two more awesome collections on the way to be debuted at CHA next month!!

* If you are planning on attending the 2008 Summer CHA show next month, look for us at booth number 2217 in Hall A. We have a great new booth space for the show and it's going to be filled with a ton of amazing new projects from our Flair Design Team!

* Last but not least, have you ever wondered what goes on at Flair Designs? Would you like to know what the inside of Flair Designs looks like or how we produce all the new Flair collections? I am happy to say that we will soon be posting a series of pictures and interesting facts to help guide you through the inter workings of Flair Designs!

Flair Design Team Spotlight!

This month's Flair Design Team Spotlight is all about Donna!

* How/When did you start scrapping?

I've been playing with photos and glue in some form since I was a small girl. My dad was a photography nut, so there were always plenty of photos around for me to play with. And I always, always did. I also used to keep a memory box, filled with special trinkets like movie ticket stubs or vacation souvenirs, among other odd things. Fast forward to 2003, when I attended a home scrapbooking party and from there, it was a short leap to obsession with scrapbooking the way we know now...

* Where do you find inspiration?

I am inspired by color, music, fabrics... or sometimes something as simple as a sign on the side of the road will do it... and by my niece and nephew, always. Always.


* Describe your scrapping style?

It's difficult for me to describe my style, but I have a tendency to create with lots of layers and enjoy using fun "things", like pom-poms, clips or funky buttons and such, on my pages. I enjoy everything colorful and anything that will add dimension to a page.

* What is your favorite Flair Collection?

My favorite Flair collection is Hit the Beach... I think. Seaside is right up there too... but Keep on Cooking and Crazy 4 U are favorites, too. Too hard to choose.

* What other tools/supplies do you almost always have on your scrap table or use the most?

I always have UnDu and ZipDry on my scrap table, and hopefully, I'm using more Zip Dry than Undu! I also use buttons and ribbons a lot.

* What is your favorite part about Scrapbooking?

It's knowing that I'll be leaving something behind.


* Anything else you might want to add about yourself?

I consider myself blessed to be a Flair girl —  to be among a group of women whom I love like sisters, each and every one of them.

I took the photos in the "Pizza Party" layout last summer while at CHA in Chicago. Several of the Flair girls got together at Giordano’s, "Chicago's World Famous Stuffed Pizza" and I have to say the pizza was outstanding! Most of us are from all over the country so it was awesome being able to get together, talk, laugh, and of course share some fantastic food.

Speaking of Chicago, the 2008 Summer CHA show is just around the corner and I am thrilled to say that we will be introducing some gorgeous new collections and we may just have a few surprises that will make you drool. Hopefully I will be able to show some sneak peaks very soon!

New Flair Layout Contest for May/June!

With Mother's Day coming up, and Father's Day right around the corner, we thought it would be a perfect time to have another layout contest. We are looking for layouts all about Mothers and Fathers!

Flair has lots of papers and stickers that would be ideal for creating unique, fun, mother and father themed layouts. Some of of the collections to consider when planning your layout are:  Family Ties, Crazy 4 U,  Amazing Grace, and Year 'Round. Almost all of our collections have papers that could be used with this theme. Let your creativity flow!!

Official rules:

-Create a layout that's all about a mother, a father, or both, making sure to use at least 50% Flair Designs' products

-The contest starts May 10th, and the deadline for entries will be midnight on June 30th!

-The Flair Design Team will then judge the entries based on creativity, craftsmanship, use of Flair products and overall design. The winner will be announced on July 3rd.

-To enter, click here or on the contest gallery link on the sidebar to the left, register, and then upload your entries into the "May/June 2008" contest album. (*Note: add pictures by clicking on add item which is located on the left-hand side of the page. Please make sure your projects are sized no larger than 2mb.)

-You may enter as many times as you like.

Prizes:

- The Grand Prize winner will receive a fabulous Flair tote bag filled with both the "What's Cooking" Collection and our brand new "Keep on Cooking" Collection!

- Two runners-up will receive the new "Keep on Cooking" Collection!

*note: if there are less than 7 entries, we will only have a grand prize winner.

Designing w/Flair in Framingham, Massachusetts

A few weeks ago Marsha Joyner, owner of Flair Designs, and Donna Bryant-Durand, a Flair Design Team member, had the opportunity to go to Framingham, MA to teach classes and techniques to scrapbook and stamping store owners. It was a great weekend that gave Marsha and Donna the chance to visit with some fabulous ladies.

One of the classes Donna taught was called "The Favs." "The Favs" is a cookbook created using products from our What’s Cooking and the brand new Keep on Cooking Collections. This class was a hit! Cookbooks are fun to make as gifts for family members or friends. Recipe exchanges are also popular right now and both the What’s Cooking and the Keep on Cooking Collections are perfect to use because they cover every subject needed for a cooking related project.

The "Share the Joy" mini album was the other class Donna taught in Framingham. It uses products from our Amazing Grace Collection. This project documents the blessings in our lives, from our children to our best friends to the marriage of our soul mate.

A big THANK YOU to everyone that took our classes in Framingham!
